Upgrading Speaker System?

I have a 2008 Grand Prix v6 without the Monsoon System and I want to upgrade my speaker system. Now I know close to nothing about speakers so I have no idea whats good and what isnt.

Im on a budget and I found these two systems online and they say it will fit my car:

Boston Acoustics SC50 SC Series 5-1/4" component speaker system - Reviews at Crutchfield.com

Alpine SPR-50C Type-R 5-1/4" component speaker system at Crutchfield.com

My questions are:

1. Will those systems above replace all of my speakers? I want to redo the whole system as a whole..
2. Are these good speakers?
3. How much of an upgrade will they have over my stock ones?
4. Do you recommend these or something else similar in price?

Thanks, and dont be afraid to voice your full opinion with me, i need it lol

dude, if you are on a budget and want great sound look at JL Evolution speakers. I have them in my whole car. And they sound great. You can do the front and back for $300. I dont have monsoon though either.

And no, you have 5.25 in front and 6x9 in front......
You would need a whole rear set still.

Look at these... great value, product and price.

you need 5 1/4 for front and 6x9 in rear.

Rear: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?comp_id=128

Wait til Black Friday, go to your local Best Buy or close Electronics store that sells car audio, buy a matching set of 5.25" & 6x9s and install and enjoy.

Most any decent brand aftermarket set of speakers will sound 10x's better than the stock speakers would.

Had your car been equipped with the Monsoon sound system it could be a toss up if you didn't spend alot of money, but as a basic factory system, the speakers are crap.

Sometimes those Maximo's are on sale for ~$60 on amazon

Those are priced aggressively but are they any good? Ive never heard of that brand (although like i said I know nothing about speakers) and If im upgrading my car speakers I don't want to completely skimp out on quality even though Im on a budget.

Thanks!

1800 knows his audio the 2 he linked would be damn hard to beat for he money! I just put kicker comps in my doors and orion 6x9s in the rear have a orion 600x4 amp going in soon to power them. Even powered off my cheapo JVC deck its a billion times better than the oem sh1t in my 98 GP!!!

Cant wait to get the amp in so they all have a little more power! Thats the plan on turkey day since I lost the battle and have to go to my in-laws LOL trust me I wont be there long.......:)

If your not wanting to run an amp then the best replacements I have found in almost all applications are the Polk Audio DB series. Right now on Crutchfield they are buy 1 get one half off. Had them in my Lincoln LS and They were awesome. Would definitely buy again and I know ebay has them for about $115 for four.

Well what kindof budget are we talking? personally i think that anythings going to be better and louder than stock, but if you want good quality JL stuff to me sounds amazing, but if you can swing it and dont plan on seriously amplifying in future, id check out some hertz dieci's i have those installed and the SQ is just phenomenal.

My budget is most likely around $200-$250 for all of the speakers together because than I still have to pay someone to install all of them which im guessing wont be cheap either.

On another note I don't really need my sound system to be louder than what it already it is cause I think its plenty loud now but im going for more quality over loudness. If its louder great, but im looking for just more clear sound and alot better bass.

Thanks and I know that you guys are listing companies I should check out but it would really help alot more if you posted links to them instead as I really have no idea what to look for.

Thanks again!!

Do it yourself!!!! It is super easy and is a good learning experience. Literally the hardest part will be pulling the rear seats. That said that isnt even that hard.

Speaker install is way overpriced in most cases. It is pretty straight forward. the only annoyances are removing the back seat and possibly having to file down the brackets for the 6x9s. Easy DIY.

I would do it myself guys but I honestly dont trust myself haha. And I just called my local car audio shop and they said that it would cost $40 for a pair to install. So how many pairs do i have? 2?

As much as we proclaim it to be easy, when you don't have the tools or experience it can become quite a mess. Op, do whatever you're comfortable with. I don't want you blaming me :)

I used a screw bit, a pair of scissors, a piece of sand paper left over from some other project, pliers, and some electric tape. First time doing anything of the sort.

Nothing special.

Does the 08 GP have tweeters up front? If so, that would be 3 pairs. Doors, tweeters, and rear deck.
