Upgrade Recomendations

First things first i apologize for making another one of these annoying threads but i really wanted some help. I wanted to start putting some performance mods on my 99 gtp, but i don't really have a lot of knowledge on where to go from here. so i was thinking to put a pulley upgrade? I was looking at the 3.4? Or maybe any other mods that would be helpful. thanks for the help...:D

I would highly caution you on doing a 3.4 pulley if you have not done any other modifications. I would first focus on a few other mods to begin with. Like an intake such as a Fenderwell Intake or even an open cone intake or any of the numerous aftermarket intakes available. Next on my high priority list would be a 180* Thermostat, or a 180* drilled Thermostat. After that I would look for a 2.5" or 3" down pipe that would include the Ubend Delete and after that I would work on the ignition system with some new Autolite copper core plugs and low resistance plug wires. Your stock plugs are 606's I believe and you could drop to one range colder by using 605's.

After you get that done, focus on getting a scanner or some way you can hook up to the computer to monitor whats going on with the engine, particularly KR (Knock Retard). If at that point you are KR free, then you might look at a 3.5 or 3.4" pulley. If you have KR at that point I would look at what could be done to get rid of the KR. At that point I would also look at possibly getting an Overkill Motorsports PCM. They can custom tune your PCM and that will bring the car to life as well take advantage of any mods you have done to that point.

Good Luck, just dont be tempted to slap a pulley on there as there is a dark side to doing that without having prepared for it.

I live in Lombard if u know the area. I have yet to join any clubs but I will be prob sometime soon. Thanks for all your help guys seriously... I was expecting flames for making another one of these threads but thanks.:D

As far as plugs go, what type would i be looking for if i was going to get platinum or Iridium??

Platinum -never

Iriduims are fine, I'm currently running them. NGK TR55IX would be right for you.

Autolite 606, 605 or 104 are much cheaper but you'll have to change them more frequently.

So i got a lot of stuff done at this point i am focusing on the scanner. Any where i could find a scanner? Would the one at pfyc be a good choice? thanks

605s are stock range not 606.NGK TR-55's are also stock range.
104s and TR-6s are 2 range colder and help for fighting KR
we always suggest NGK TR-6s. you get longer life out of them then the Autolites and they seem to help fight KR a little better.
