• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

hey, just thought id ask a basic question open for any answers or ideas. So i parked my 07 GXP for the winter and i'm making a list of to-do already of what i need and want to do to it come spring time. before parking it i put in sta-bil and injector cleaner in the fuel. should i of done anything else to it? its only going to be parked for about 3.. maybe 4 months at the most.

so far i have these:

new battery (had a bad battery in it when i bought it august)
spark plugs (check/replace if needed)
transmission fluid change (needed to do this before i parked it)
shift kit
fuel filter
change coolent
check all fluids
air filter (check/replace if needed)
flip engine mounts
buff head lights out
change interior/exterior lights to LEDs
-tag lights -fog lights -reverse lights
-dome lights -floor lights

future expensive add-ons:
tint windows
exhaust
new wheels

is there anything else i should do before i drive it again or any easy and not very expensive mods i could do right away in the spring? And while i have the tranny pan off or anything? any ideas are welcome. just looking to make my gxp that much better and fun, even though i've been reading that you can't mod much of the engine of a gxp.

Personally I would change the oil before you drive it again.

Having it sit for that long will allow mositure into the oil and it just breaks down over time.

Don't forget a new trans filter and 8 quarts of fluid.

I don't think ur car has a fuel filter...I have an 06 gxp and there's no stock fuel filter. Unless u added one in

i did not add one. i didn't know that they didn't have one actually. i haven't had my car up on the hoist all but once to change the oil. so what is there instead of a filter?

There's not a filter just the pump and injectors.

^^^^extra trans cooler a must with these cars. I have two extra ones on mine plus the stock one

how hard are they to put in? (trans cooler) and how much are they? and if the fuel filter is in tank... forget that! i've put fuel filters and pumps in before in other cars... not the funnest way to spend an afternoon.

the trans coolers run about 40 bucks a piece. and their simple to put in. just find the return line that runs back to the tranny and cut it there and run to the extra cooler. and the fuel filter on our cars if it is in the tank you would have to drop the tank. theres no access hole in the trunk like in the 03 and below cars. but for the fuel filter i dont think it would be anything to worry about since its in tank unless your have fuel problem

yeah, i'm not going to worry about the fuel filter. i'm not wanting to drop the tank and i'm not having a fuel problem. i was thinking the filter as more of a preventive maintenance kinda thing. is there a thread for a how to that i could be reverted to for installing a trans cooler? or a website? i'm very interested.

Yup hole on like 5 seconds I'll post it for ya. Its easy and takes maybe an hour

U can get the transmission coolers either online or local auto parts store! I got both of mine from oreilly auto parts for 29.99 a piece plus the little hose connector things they were a couple bucks for two of em. And I'm sure MN would be one heck of a drive

i have a access to a full shop myself with a hoist and most likely every tool possible or some how available through connections. it is just need fact of doing it as i am inexperience as well as my dad is with GP and my 07 is the newest car out of all the vehicles my dad has ever bought.. which is a lot.

I was super inexperienced with cars six months ago. I was hesitant to do this to my car. Only to discover how easy it was. This site gas taught me a lot and I'm fixing to tackle a power steering pump, and the rack and pinion. Just take ur time and follow the directions. Its easy and the tranny will definitely benefit from the coolers
