Re: *UPDATED* GOOD BYE SE Build Thread *PICS*
So friday was supposed to be the big day of putting everything on...... i had everything finished, well i had the last layer of clearcoat drying on the fender thurs and ive been bringing everything into my house because the weather has been crap. Also for those of you who do not know or who can tell from the photos , i live in a 3 story apartment so for me to finish this paint job and have it look right i have literally turned my private patio into a crack shack paint booth so this paint job can be perfect.....
anyways wayyy of topic but so i brought the fender inside to dry and got in the shower and when i got out, one of my kids or my girlfriend ( i dont know who did it) but one of them had dragged something heavy right across the fender and it had went thru all coats of clear and base coats..... i almost had a heart attack because the only way to fix it was to strip off all the paint...... i dont have any photos of the damage or of stripping the fender seein as how i speent all day yest just completely stripping the fender back down to bare metal but heres a photo of it all cleaned up with its first layer of primer....
Im still going to need to go get some filler primer and hit it with a couple coats of that and sand it down before i hit it back again with base coat, but it literally took me all day to just get the fender to look like this.......
i also went to the yard yest and picked up all the bumper inserts as well too. the plate insert i had to sand down and fill in certain spots with bondo before i painted it but it all came out good as well.
here it is as of 930 last night...
SO inserts all finished as well as the final coat of clear that was done on thurs to the bumper....
And heres the bumper all finished up with inserts added the bumper as well as pontiac logo i snagged from my SE bumper....
and this....
And the final front view.... i think the best looking shot i took of all of it..
Like i said before, all this was done in an apartment complex on the back of my private patio... with that being said, i dont think this paint job could have came out any better expecially since i rattle canned the whole entire thing... So props to the people who can make a rattlecan paintjob look like a professionally done macco or bodyshop paintjob... you all know the special attention to detail it all takes to get it to look right and you all know how much time and patience it takes to finish it up.......
I try and post more photos of the fender as i make more progress fixing it..............
