Many of you contact me throughout the day on instant messenger. I try to respond as quickly as I can unless Im just getting swamped at work.

However in about a week the company has deemed it necessary to start blocking all instant messenger traffic that is not originated on the company approved client. I currently use Pidgin for contacts outside of work.

I guess they are afraid we are going to give away company secrets or network secrets or any number of things. I cant see their concern, I certainly cant think of anything that I know that Id be willing to give away for free. Offer me enough money and maybe we can talk :th_laugh-lol3:

So until I find a messaging client that wont trigger their software alerts (Ive tried Trillian before and they usually send me a message within a few days that I need to remove it or they'll do it for me) you'll have to contact me via PM or email (gee, wonder why there is no concern over that, cant I share the same state...err company secrets with those as I can with instant messengers?) and I'll do my best to respond as quickly as I can.
 


Scotty, if your company is anything like mine... they are able to read your emails before they get sent/recieved... to verify that you are not sending company documents out.

they cannot do this with instant messanger..... whihc is why they want it gone. lol

Sure they can. You can keep a log of your own messages on Yahoo IM at least, and Im pretty sure you can with AIM and MSN messenger. Plus they archive (read: store for later retrieval) all messages sent on the company instant messenger, which is probably why they want us to use only the company messenger.

They tell me I can add my AIM and Yahoo contacts to the company messenger programe (Called Sametime), but I havent found out a way to do so.
