unsuccessfull cam swap?

So i recently swapped out my stock cam for a cam with a .505/.515 (intake/exaust) lift and now it has a really rough idle and sometimes dies and when i give it a lil gas it falls on its ass.. I know i have a bad throttle body gasket and i uploaded a stock DHP file with my DHP powertuner and the crank learn code (1336 i think) appears with a no rear 02 sensor code (no rear O2 sensor so its legit :p).. Those are the only 2 codes i get, i think maybe i am off a link or tooth on the cam gear???? Any fresh ideas before i tear it back apart???? Would the crank learn not being performed throw everything off??? You got any ideas for me???

i am kinda skeptical because to do a case learn it needs to hit bout 5100 rpms and if the cam isnt in right i dont wanna be one GTP short of a motor, I might try it anyway :th_winking:

Show us your picture of lining up the dots. You did take the most important picture of the install right? If not, pop off the timing cover and visually check with a light and mirror.

And please..fix the TB gasket asap. There's no reason to have a large vacuum leak at the TB. Can't be helping the issues.

Bad TB gasket will probably cause the car to die with a vacuum leak that big too. Its a $4 fix...get it done.

i found out that my fuel injection rail wasnt in all the way causing blow by if you will on 2 rear injectors :(..... And ya thanks to autozones incompetence i have to wait another day here for my throttle body gasket to come in.. I paid for it monday they said it would be there tuesday so i went in when i had a free moment which was yesterday (thursday) and they NEVER placed the order for it so now i have to wait and hope its there later today....

This is why you should have the parts before starting a project :th_thumbsup-wink:

Being in the buisness.... this is best conclusion I can draw about angry customers.:th_jester:

Good luck with your car.

The dealer generally stocks those gaskets BTW.

Time is money right? :th_thumbsup-wink:

haha ya i should have gotten the parts prior, lesson learned..... i was just a little frustrated at the time because of the issues i was having

And keep in mind this is the parts store that we called looking for spark plugs for my buddys diesel haha, and it took them 30 minutes to tell us they didnt make any we would have to go to the dealer for them lol..

I do a lot of work on these cars and stock gaskets because of it. There are a few things we can rely on in life.

1. Women act nuts at the most inopportune times.
2. You will need the one part you don't plan for.
3. Your buddies should beat you down when you need it.

I think we covered 2 and 3. :th_thumbsup-wink:
