UIM, LIM Gasket Job Pics

Great pics man! I just picked up some new aluminum LIM gaskets this morning from the Chevy Dealer. I am surprised they had them in stock.

That LIM gasket looks like hell and so does that one O-ring. Did you do both upper and lower O-rings on the injectors or just lower??

Also how does the o-rings in the fuel line quick disconnect look?? People claim those o-rings are just as bad of shape as the injector o-rings, and may be the source of all the engine fires...

Thanks for the pics. They will help me for when I do mine when the weather breaks.

I did the uppers and lowers but the uppers weren't in bad shape at all, could have gotten by with just lowers. Glad you mentioned the fuel line o-ring. I haven't even checked it out yet. Not a bad job at all, just take your time and keep things clean. I have a real good DIY on doing most of it. If you want a pdf of it, let me know.

I am planing to have mine 98 grand prix GT(110k miles) done this May. I live in Vancouver, maybe because of the weather, there is no coolant leak around intake. But the lower intake gasket do leak oil very very very slowly. Do u guys have any tips and comments about this work. Thx. I have no pictures, books, or tools to do it right now, so please also tell me which kinds of tools or books will be necessary. I appreciate.

BTW: my email address is [email protected]

This is a good video of a member on here who changed the gaskets on a supercharged grand prix. So for a GT, we have a upper intake manifold instead of a supercharger to remove, but the rest is the same concept. Very helpful. Also you can ignore the lifter removal and install, we dont need to do that, but the guy in the video does.

i am unclear just by looking... how exactly do the fuel rails come out? just pull?

Theres 4 or so bolts that hold the rail to the manifold, remove those and just pull. If you want to remove the plastic fuel line from the rail, squeeze on both sides of the quick disconnect and it should pop off.
