• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

txslow6's 97 TGTP

Re: txslow6's 97 TGTP----> OEM turbo badges getting plastidip

You're saying 400.....whp I assume? I've seen guys max out 42's with 350whp on pump gas. Have people on here used 42's safely for 400whp?
No 400 crank horsepower. Don't know about here, but when figuring injectors by using the math formula that is what I'm getting. Regardless, 42's don't go very far on a turbo setup.

Re: txslow6's 97 TGTP----> OEM turbo badges getting plastidip

So the car has been hitting a wall at 4500 RPM's. Not sure if it's the way I have the vacuum routed or what. Been pissing me off since I haven't been able to really play with the car on the new setup. Here's what its doing:
Boost cutoff? - YouTube

Oddly enough I had removed the breather off the oil cap and just ran the little one. Soon found out this was a mistake since it started puking oil out the little one. Put the other breather back on and all is well. If the issue is resolved I'll just run the little breather and see if it still spews oil. If it does then the bigger breather will go back on.

Got tired of T'ing everything and decided to pick one of these up:

Opted not to use those crappy plastic fittings and picked up some metal ones from the hardware store. First test fit to see if this fixes the problem:

Went ahead and made it ghettoeific by ziptieing it to the strut bar. This will be tempory till I can get the issue sorted out. Then I'll get it bolted to the firewall.

Going for a drive now to see if this fixes the issue.

EDIT: Nope still doing the same thing. I swear I'm the only GP owner in the world that does this topswap only to have issues. Looks like its going back to the shop before I take a hammer to it.

Yes and its rather annoying. Before i put the hose over it, it rubbed the **** out of the bottom side of my SD hood.

Car is fixed and running back to normal again. Switched back to my stock TB. Went for a drive gave it a little gas and let off. Car didn't die. Got in boost and the car freaked out. Got on it again and watched the boost gauge as it climbed to 20 PSI. Gave the Oh Fu/k look and pulled over. Turned down the boost and all is well. I imagine the HVIII, ported LIM, and L36 upper screwed with how much the boost controller needs to be turned. So essentially I upped the boost just by doing the top swap and it was over boosting.

Going to a car meet tomorrow and possibly have a date with a turbo swapped MKIV Supra. I'll try to get a passenger to ride and video.

Pontiac Southern Nationals is coming up in 2 weeks. I'll be getting the car ready and on the agenda is:
Remove 16" mustang wheels and reinstall the HP design wheels
possibly plasti dip wheels
Turbo 6 center caps.
install Grand Prix Turbo badges
Touch up engine bay and bumper spots with paint
clean, clean, and then clean some more.
Not in that order

What car show is going on today?

I don't know of any off the top of my head. I was referring to PSN June 9th. Will you be able to make it?

Looks like there are two going on according to www.hotrodhappenings.com

Looks like I might need to paint the calipers red. My show sign has red lettering for GTP so it matches nicely.

Well no go on the Supra. They want to run next week. Did catch a newer Mustang with exhaust and Idk what else on the way home and ended up racing 3 times. On the third race from a 50 punch I gave him the hit and he pulled pretty good. Reeled him in and passed him. Slowed down and he caught back up. He had a big grin and his face gave the thumbs up and shouted. I dig the car man. Shouted back thanks for the races and went our separate ways. I'll update next week after I race the Supra.

I must have read your post wrong, sorry. I doesn't look like PSN is in my future, Tim still has my transmission. :th_shakinghead1:

i say take the turbo badges off, keep it clean. Or at least raise them up to were normal GTP badges sit. Stock badges dont sit that low to the rocker panels i dont think.

I've driven the car for 2 years with no badges. I'm wanting to change the look up, and it's hard for me to get a race, where as the turbo badges help sucker people in to racing. I did almost put them where the factory GTP badges were, but opted not to because I wanted it to be a little different than every other GTP out there. You are correct thought the GTP badges are about 6" from the bottom and 6.5" away from the seam of the door.

Very good looking car! Wish I knew the platform half as good as you do and others do on here. Slowly learning though :th_biggrin2:
