Txslow6's 1987 Fiero GT

Because money ^

Why would he want to spend money on another motor when he already has a perfectly fine one •_•

How about just buy a new SC 3800 and put in instead of hacking up such a nice turbo 3800 for it
That is honestly still an option, but the Fiero is much lighter than the GP, and the thought of a turbo in the overgrown go cart sounds like one hell of a ride. The GP already has the looks going for it IMO, and I wouldn't mind making it more of a nice looking vehicle to show. I also just purchased a 2012 Equinox for my wife so her 08 base GP is just sitting in the driveway collecting dust which I could start using as a daily to keep the miles off the Goat. F'ing decisions.

Keep this up you may need a bigger driveway from the sounds of it.

Seriously. My friends and family think I'm crazy for having 5 cars when only 2 of us drive. But I love cars and a person can never have too many of them. And the bigger driveway will most likely be coming next summer as my wife and I will be purchasing a house to get away from renting.

the 05 LS2 was limited from the factory were as the 06 LS2 was not. also a cam and some headers with push that beast to over 500 hp in a fiero

I like the fiero. nice looking car. but what were the thinking in the 80's on the interiors? trans ams too (GM sporty cars in general). squares, rectangle buttons. skinny instrument panels.....that's always been my roadblock on 80's cars. I love how the trans ams look on the outside and the fieros too. but the only way i'd ever want to put money in one is make it like KITT inside and out with a few 21st century touchups. and on the fiero have to change the whole interior. but yours looks sharp and in good condition. I like it!

lol what? There is absolutely nothing different engine wise between the 05/06, limited or not. Where are you getting your information? Please tell me more about how my 2005 GTO engine is limited from the factory.

i hear you on the interiors. This one reminds me of my C4. The GM interiors were futuristic looking where as the Ford ones were very plain and ugly looking. These are worlds better than the 79-86 Foxbody interiors IMO. Although for whatever reason I kinda like this interior ATM. That doesn't mean it won't change at a later time though.

Going by the parts store today to pick up an intake manifold gasket, vacuum lines, valve cover gaskets, and fuel filter.

I was looking at suspension stuff last night. OEM like springs are more expensive than Eibachs. $351 vs $289. The car already sits low to the ground so I'm considering forking over for the OEM ones. I don't want stiff springs on this car so it may be worth the extra $60.

Engine needs some attention to hold me over till the swap. Picked up an intake manifold gasket, valve cover gaskets, and a fuel filter. Once I pull the plenum off later today ill pull the vac lines and source new ones from the part store. Hopefully I'll have this thread updated later today.

Spent the better part of the day removing the plenum, installing valve cover gaskets, and fixing the vacuum line hack job. Got most of the way through before I had to call it quits. Today I was reminded of how relaxing listening to music and turning wrenches can be.

What I started with
1-Preinstall_zps40229818.jpg

Started with the removing the air intake assembly:

Still need to route a few more vac, reinstall the throttle cable, and reinstall the air intake ducting.

Ready for the road:

Went seat shopping at the local junkyard. Found a paint faded 99 Cavalier that looked terrible, but ironically with a very clean interior. Went ahead and pulled the seats, paid $50, and took them home. These will hold me over until I can figure out what I want to do with the interior. All I'll need to do is switch the tracks and they should fit nicely in the Fiero. I'll have pics of the install later, in the meantime here they are:
