anyone running a twin charged setup? heard its possible, but a paint, but def wanna do it, just cuz you never see it done....
 


im pretty sure the hardest part would be tuning it IMO

but id just go turbo if you like your GP its probably worth the money
 
yeah go with the turbo. if you do a l67 build you can have both and be "triple-charged" haha. zzp sells a stattama twin turbo kit
 
hmmm, but going straight turbo would cost me even more money i think, i mean might as well go twin turbo if im gonna swap heads and intake manifold right? annnd knowing me and my buddies, one of those turbos is going to end up coming off a semi truck.....
 


a turbo only would require a new intake manifold too... and different heads... and a **** ton of tuning, and i can do most of the fab work for turbo plumbing myself..... saving big bucks over buying a kit
 
Cost more?

Junkyard turbo off a cummins truck, or buy a turbo kit from ZZP or a used one.

Sell all your supercharged parts and buy a built trans, lots of gauges and your own tuner and be on your way or find a dyno shop thats worth a dam and tune it.
 


this is all in the planning stages right now, my current concern is the tranny, im a cam install and head porting away from a hand grenade

Why would you need different heads?

Upgradeto 1.9 rockers and prolly some 105's or 130 springs.


But really if you are really even thinking about this, you got days and days if not a few weeks of reading and reseaching about thiese kinds of mods and what is all needed to do this.

Anytime you mod, its going to require custom tuning.
 
i didnt think about a block off plate, didnt know you could do that, but i think your flow would be pretty turbulent if you just blocked that **** off? and id get a powerstroke turbo, cummins are actually a smaller engine. and smaller turbo, plus the turbo lag would be really ****ty on a huge turbo, hence why i think twin charging would work out better especially if you have a big ass turbo, blower for low rpms till your throwing out enough back pressure to spool it up
 


i realize different turbos are better for different motors, the key factor being the displacement versus the size... too big and you'll take days to spool up, but when you do.... damn..... hence why youd think a twin charged setup would throw down big numbers on the dyno because the SC will give you the boost untill the turbo spools....

People have gone 11's with a block off plate. You can always use a small shot of nitrous pre turbo to help with spool. I actually plan on doing this.
 
unless you have a diff blower the eaton will max out pretty quickly on a turbo setup.
by that time it'll be a restriction rather than a help.
stock heads will be fine on a turbo build, but porting will def help especially if you get a nice turbo cam.
yes turbo lag sucks...but at the same time how much power is actually usable in those low rpm's? usually low rpm power translates to wheel spinning. our 3.8's have the capability for a lot of torque as it is.
