Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Tutorials for Basic and Advanced HPTuners Now Available!!!

Hey guys. With all the toil I've gone through using HPT on my Camaro, I have finally compiled all the lessons learned and created 4 videos to explain the most important elements of tuning in a step-wise and hopefully intuitive way.

The first video goes over changing important tuning parameters and basic map optimization that will net most stock cars a few extra HP right off the bat.

The second mini-series is a 3-part video going into great depth regarding advanced open loop VE tuning for the ultimate in control over your car, whether it's for maximizing power on an N/A tune or picking up the techniques you'll need to add power mods.

Check it out and let me know what you think:

Advanced Tuning:

How to Do a Complete Open Loop VE Tune Using HPTuners - Part 1: VCM Scanner Overview - YouTube

I'll check it out for sure, love tuning videos. However VE tuning the 3800 is basically pointless unless you just want a tuned MAF failsafe.

It was a bit more geared towards the LS series found in the G8 but in fact the info in these vids can broadly be applied to tuning any car, particularly older pushrod engines.

Forgot to mention also... I have a few other vids that are specifically for Grand Prix's in my channel - these are more DIY repair type vids but might also be worth checking out since it's for this car.

I get it. I just wanted to comment that about VE tuning for anyone new to tuning these cars. Would take a lot of time and fuel just to find out that VE tuning does Diddley.

Question I've had is in transients. Do you know how to tune transient fueling? I've only found one guide on hptuners website and it was confusing.

It's pretty complex in terms of thermodynamics, gas laws and other physics not readily available to the public. I think the OEMs model these phenomena by experimentation and we'd pretty much have to do the same. Fuel puddling and evaporating off port walls isn't something you can readily tune unless you have all the initial conditions and geometry that GM started with.

However, if you find that fuel is lagging behind throttle, such that you're getting instantaneous lean conditions all the time, you could change the transient tables to trick the computer into thinking there's less fuel than there really is in the port. This would effectively tell the ECM to add more.
