thinking about maybe going the route of a turbe...have a 1998 gtp coupe....found a cartuning performance 3800 turbo kit...idk if this is a decent kit or not..any info would be great

yea i think i am gunna try for the zzp set up...idk it will be well over a year before i can get an idea if i will be able to save the money for this...nd maybe by then i can learn enough to make my own set up...but the zzp kit is 3,000 nd i know they make good stuff. till then i think i will try to start with the less expensive supporting mods for a kit like that.

You're going to turbocharge a supercharged car? Good luck with that...

seriously? its not really that hard at all.

take out supercharger rotors. cap off blower snout area. install turbo crossover and the rest of the turbo setup (oil lines, intake piping, etc).

Well then it's no longer a supercharged car is it?

Depends on your goals but one could get the Z3 kit and be happy with it, it has had some good results. The cartuning kit is not crap either, I just wouldn't buy it brand new.

Your tranny will hold up for a while if you get this and don't drive like a jackass:
Z3 turbo kit
42.5# inj.
DIY intercooler

That should be an easy 300whp and up if you do some tuning...

yea that is an option but if i am gunna save up 2300 bucks i might as well save up the 700 more and do the Z7. If fully commit to goin turbo i am gunna save for a while and do it right...nd i want somethin that will get me some serious power

The two kits are actually comparable to eachother in terms of potential power. The Z7 kit was just the original kit made and the Z3 kit came out later offering a few other refinements and cost savings over the Z7. The wastegate location changes on each kit. The Z3 has the advantage of open dump wastegate, after the desired boost is hit, the wastegate opens and extra exhaust pressure is bled directly to the atmosphere. This is better because the boost levels will not fluctuate as much since there is no backpressure and a 2.5" downpipe from the turbo becomes more like a 3" downpipe when the wastegate opens. I would say either kit would work well up to 450whp, after that the stattama kit would be the better option.

yea i was looking into the stattama kit also..idk for sure what i am going to do yet it is still to far in the futur to totally know...maybe i can learn enough by the time i get the money saved up to put together my own set up :)
