Turbo or Super?

About 240 whp. If you want just that amount, you might as well just topswap, with maybe a 3.6 and a good tune and you'll be there.

i made 250whp on a mustang dyno with a gen 5 top swap, rocker arms, N*, and headers on a 3.6. If i had the chance to do it all over again, i would have just swaped in an L67 with headers, rockers, and 3.4 pulley

the car was only a 14 sec car

which is exactly why if your shooting for over 300 hp and not going turbo your insane IMO by the time you gen5 swap and cam it and whatever else a stock engine and a used turbo kit will make more HP! unless you wanna go OMG TVS conversion.........

Having done a full on supercharged build and now working on my turbo build, I think the best route is to go charged for you. Sounds like you're looking for reliability since you daily drive your car. Less headaches and you won't have to be concerned with building your trans up. I think by doing some smart shopping you can achieve your goal spending far less than 1k.

300 CHP is very easy to achieve with a SC. IMHO much more reliable also. Turbos are MUCH more hp then SC but put tons of wear and tear on your car. Top swapping would be cake to make that much HP.

Im sure just top swapping with headers, intake, rockers, 3.4 pulley, a good tune, and plugs/wires/180 thermo that should be 300hp right there. Definately not hard and costs far less.

Really that's news to me. Want to explain your reasoning?

I think you are running a Tim King trans right? I'm assuming he is referring to how turbo'd vehicles typically make more power, and depending on the size/AR of the turbo the power hits harder and puts more strain on the transmission. That's where I am assuming he is talking about the "wear and tear." I can speak for myself that I have about 4-5k of parts for my trans alone with my turbo build.

I have made more power with my turbo setup on a factory stock 140k+ mile trans for more time than most can hold a m90 setup making less power together.... To say a turbo is harder on a trans is straight retarded.

Anyway. Doing a turbo setup is typically cheaper than doing a top swap, and due to the fact that you have the weakest 3800 ever made in your car, the turbo will do the best job of creating safe horsepower for the least money/hassle, with the ability to add a boost controller that turns up the power for screwing around on the weekends.

Weakest 3800?

It's an L36, not a L26.

Turbo build cheaper than a Top Swap? Maybe if you have the parts in your garage, but 99.9% of people don't.

has yet to complete a build. gives others advice.

seriously, tyler?

He's looking for 300 CHP, which is easy with a blower.

It'd be easier to maintain, and theres less to worry about.

All around a more reliable package for someone who wants ~240 WHP.
