Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Tuning non-TAPShift PCM to run a TAPShift transmission

Unsurprisingly, no dealership technician wants to touch this with a 10-metre cattle prod... but how would I flash my PCM to operate TAPShift features? (I don't have the gearbox yet, but presume that'll go in!) I have already added the paddles, and both my clock spring and column wiring support it, so, in addition to the floor shifter, all I'd need to add in terms of hardware is the transmission itself (and I say that so glibly, as if it's "no big deal" :th_laugh-pointup:)!

theoretically all you would need to do is get a gtp base tune that has tap shift already programmed and just load that tune onto your current pcm. I have no practical experience, and am just assuming that is how it would be done.

Buy a tuner. I suggest an HPtuner, because quite frankly they are better than a DHP, but a DHP is cheaper and through alot of blood sweat, tears and tons of money in your case, it could work..maybe.

hp tuner will work out of the box, without any hassle. and then you can use it to tune your car further. dhp is a good tuner, but the software is 10 years old, and has no support from the company that made it. hp tuner is easier to learn and easier to tune your car with.

bigger question is, have you found a tap shift tranny ???? hard to find. and all the inside of the car parts and harnesses and what not that goes into it?

be easier to find a comp g in the end.

You will not be able to "Add" Tapshift functionality with a tuner to a GTP Tune.

You will be able to START with a TapShift (CompG) tune, and make it work, however the CompG tune also includes Stabilitrak. You would have to swap over to a CompG ABS module, and add the steering Angle Sensor, Yaw Sensor, and run a CompG Engine harness (There ARE differences in the ABS wiring, even though it's the same connector).

I installed a TapShift transmission into my GT(P), but decided to go the other direction. I converted the trans to a Non-TapShift valvebody, but kept the 3.29 gears and other heavy duty parts. If I was to do it again, I would have probably done the whole Stabilitrak system. If you have a donor car, it's a lot easier.

I have access to a CompG at the boneyard; while the wiring's been cut by others, I can still salvage the leads for the Stabilitrak. Does anyone have any schematic of the traction/stability control wiring? I'd like to add the wires if I can before replacing the harnesses...
