Tuning challenged

So I've been reading up on modding my gtp I have what I think is a nice plan of attack laid out and then I start to think about tuning. After spending some time on the hptuners forum and here I've come to the conclusion that I don't even know where to begin when it comes to tuning lol. Is there some resource(s) that breaks down not only how to go about tuning but also like the super basic stuff. Like I'm reading through Jerry's tuner notebook and I can't make heads or tails of it.

As a tack on question, is it possible/recommendable to build a decently fast gp (13-12's) w/o knowing how to do your own tuning?

I'm in the same place. I started reading about a month ago and was having a hard time getting a basic understanding of what I was doing. Somebody gave me a link to this website:

Gary's HP Tuners Basic Tuning 101

I feel like I gained a much better understanding of the basics from this. I have done a lot more reading on the HPTuners forums and other places since then. I can't claim to have it figured out yet, but I read things now that are making a lot of sense to me that didn't before. I'm learning faster now that I understand more of what I read. Keep after it and you'll get it.

Forgot to mention going to the HPTuners forum. Read the section near the top with the info for people new to tuning and then go to the V6 section and read the sticky at the top with the V6 specific tuning basics. I found those to be helpful with getting me started.

If you like that guide, you might want to save it locally. Gary's recently gotten rid of his Regal and had his tuner up for sale, so I don't know how much longer he'll have everything up.
