Trunk/Spoiler ideas

GR8racingfool, that farnsworth flames Grand prix looks good, that's what I'm going to do with my front and rear bumpers, I'm shaving them and I'm smoothing out and filling in the lower rear bumper where it says pontiac, the pontiac symbol and plate in the front bumper too. I just dont really like the grooves in the bumpers, on the front it looks like whiskers or something.

What does everyone mean when they talk about the guide pins that they used for the side moldings, arent the whole things just double sided taped on? How do I take them off?

LowlyfeGTP, yeah i guess your right that does look pretty sweet on the silver GP's, it kind of makes it look like it has a lil shorter wheelbase, GTOish kinda in the first pic you posted. Hey how did you do the vinyl on the headlights? and did the high beams seam more directed like with them showing through a circle only?

hey, group question, do you guys think my GP looks good with the silver/blue/ and black rims, or do you think it would look better if all the blue parts were painted black?? Let me know I'm thinking about maybe changing them, but I still a little iffie. You can check all the angle shots here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2333123

Thanks, thats still my car, just changed the brakes (to F-Body Fronts), hood (to a MPD F1), and rims (to 18" HP Racing) since those pictures. The bumpers are "filled" not "shaved" as people keep referring to them as. The grooves are still there, just filled in, correctly mind you. if i get bumped...the filler will flex with the plastic bumper and will not break out under low impact. You use to hard of a filler, and pushing with your hand will cause the filler to break out ever time. Yes...people have tried to use Bondo or POLY Putty body putty and then later asked me why that happened.

When you pull the door moldings off there are little plastic fingers/guide pins that are part of the trim that go into holes on the side of the car, that way, they will be even/straight when they are installed on the line when the cars are being assembled. If you remove them, you will have some holes to weld shut on the actual body of the car before your done. Another reason why people don't mess with shaving them.

Yeah, back when I was doing this to my first GTP in 99, I pulled the moulding off and...WTF?! Three guide holes in the doors and two in the rear quarters. So, as stated, they had to be welded, etc. and repainted. I also had an SD hood, WW spoiler, shaved trunk, hash marks, cross braces, headlight covers, and taillights all painted at the same time as the side moulding.

I loved it, getting rid of the side moulding was one of the first things I wanted even when the car was still on the lot. The headlights on that GTP were actually clear covers reverse painted on the inside. Closest to the "projector look" I could get 9 years ago. I had two companies over the years that were in the process of making lights for us, but both backed out of involvement with the GP community.

I think the Silver and blue go nicely. On my second Silvermist GTP I had blue overlays, and calipers and it looked nice. I think the black wheels look fine with the silver/blue combo. The blue side moulding would have to grow on me though.

I will be going Silvermist and gray, with some red accents on this GTP. Unless, I find a painter to hook me up so I can do the real paint scheme I want.

yeah the side molding was a big risk for me, but i decided i had to try it cause it seemed like to me the side of the car being all silver was little too much for me, like it needed a breaking color to kinda divided everything up and give it some character.
