I'm pry gonna buy a truck here in the next couple weeks what are everybodys opinions on the different trucks(1/2 ton...wish i could afford 3/4).....right now i'm strongly considering the GMC sierra 1500....what do you guys think?
 


I like those, though I like the silverado's better...even though they are the same truck non the less. I like the grilles better..... what options does it have?
 
my opinion. best trucks out on the market. very roomy, VERY good engine, and plenty of aftermarket if need be. very reliable, great styling, and great ride.

all around a sure win in my book!!!!
 
the band I work for just got a 2008 2500HD...VERY NICE TRUCK...GMC has thought of everything...brake controller is integrated so no need for an aftermarket one...very quiet cab...just all around awesome truck......

on top of that it was free...we got sponsored by GMC of Chadron
 


wow thats alot of miles. I would bring 6400cash. they should take that. that engine is a very good engine. truck looks very clean.....prob highway miles....
 
motor trend liked them last year, and the bigger ones almost beat the toyota this year (toyota was the only half ton in the running)
 
I'm assuming that you're looking used. If you're looking at Chevy/GMC (assuming you are at this point) if you can, go for 2003 or newer. The electronics changed over after 2002, and everything is integrated better, and there are more creature comforts/options. Also, if you're going used, that would possibly open up the possibility of a 3/4 ton, though probably not diesel. Question is, what do you plan to do with the truck?
 
the 2009 dodge ram 1500. 380 hp 404 ft lbs of trq. Can't go wrong with that. They changed the inside and the front, soo now it has a dodge charger grill.
 
I have owned 5 silverado's and loved every single one. As far as creature comforts, you really can't tell the difference, of course it could be that I don't notice because I have always owned them. If I did absolutely have to pick a favorite it is my 2005 crew cab, only because the automatic climate control and its black too.

that year??? there's bound to be some in most all years, but it shouldnt hurt anything, if you even notice it! maybe those were worse than others, though.

really not much point in buying a nissan if you want a pickup truck... though they're likely to get cheaper after they quit making them in a year or two.


and with the quality issues plaguing toyota and their new truck, i'd be hesitant of them, too.
 


If you can afford it, buy a diesel. Yes, diesel is more expensive, but even with that, the efficiency of the engine will pay for itself with a few years. Not to mention lower maintenance costs, longer life expectancy, and much better operating torque. Throw in the fact that a diesel can be reprogrammed to put out far more power, or dialed down to increase efficiency, and the benefits far outweigh the extra purchase price.
If you are considering doing any towing at all, then diesel is pretty much the only way to go.


BTW, it is my considered opinion that there should be a law requiring all pick-ups and SUVs over 4500lbs to use diesel motors...

It hauls pretty well. You have the imfamous rear end sag with heavier trailers though. Can be fixed for less than $100 for an airlift helper spring.
It's an 03 with 86k on it. Every option except 4wd and a sunroof.
I enjoy driving it. Handles pretty well and gets up to speed pretty well too. Has the tow package and everything.
Dunno if you're looking for a truck or an SUV on a truck chassis haha.
Chevy/GMC is a great direction to go with.
 
This bad boy, it has all the power you need in a half ton and it's a fun truck to drive too. Oh and did i tell you the heads it turns :-)
