Trasmission Problems?

I have a 99 Grand Prix GT and have been having problems with the car lurching and the rpm's jumping around when in drive. It seems to only be happening between 2000 and 3000 rpms, and only in drive. I have replaced the MAF three different times thinking that might be the problem and have replaced the fuel pump also. It does it most when going up a hill or under light acceleration, like when I have the cruise on or when trying to maintain a steady speed going up hills. It will do it with slight acceleration on flat roads, but doesn't seem to do it quite as bad. I am stumped!! Is this a tranny problem or something else. Please help!!!

Check your ignition system etc. Tune up with plugs and wires. Ensure the coils are all good. I've seen a similar issue with a coil pack and after replacing a trans.. yeah.. still had to shotgun parts to find it. I'd shotgun another set of coils/icm before you swap a trans.

I have replaced the coils, wires, spark plugs, various sensors, and done a tranny flush, coolant flush, etc. A mechanic friend said something about a screen in the transmission that might be causing the problem?? Unfortunately I am not very mechanically minded so I don't really know what to do. It is a rebuilt transmission also.

The only screens on a trans (beyond a filter in the pan) are in the spacer place between the valve body and channel plate. If those clog up, they can cause issues.

Since it's a rebuilt trans, what does the shop that did the work say?

Tough to say on the issue. It sure sounds like it's ignition related.

Maybe have a trans shop with the diagnostic tools take a look at it.

I had a similar problem a month ago. I found when I removed my bottom trans cover where the filter is there is 3 steel fluid line and one of them had a short piece of hose connecting the, that hose went bad on mine and was pushing fluid out the side of the hose. replace the 2-3" section of hose and My problem went away. I can see this being a common hidden issue as my trans guy said that everything was in spec, and my argument was it didn't do it two weeks prior.
I hope this helps.
