Transmission Question

Gtpeh

New member
Newbie here in need of some help.

I have a 2002 GTP tranny is slipping when I get on it.
Can I use a tranny out of a regal or other Grand Prix that's not supercharged or are they different?
Anyone know what other car has same tranny as a 2002 GTP supercharged?
I'm told they are 2002 only from same car?! Help please

Anything from a GTP from 98-02 should work. 97 and 03 are different IIRC. Other W-body cars include the Regals, Monte's, Buick Park Avenue and Bonneville's. You have 2.93's stock in the GTP. One of the differences between the N/A cars and the supercharged ones is the H/D differential and the gear ratio.

Depending on your budget you can get a great rebuild from tripleedgeperformance.com. Dave can set you up with a basic rebuild for a great price.

97-02 HD transmissions are the same. 00+ has different trans cooler line fittings, an easy swap.

A regal or bonneville/park ave can donate it's trans aswell but MUST come from a supercharged car to be a "DIRECT" swap. Research the years that you can use, but figure 98+ for regals and 2000-2002 for bonneville/park ave.

You will not be able to use a regular non hd trans and have it be a turn key and go, there would need to be more changes done and 95% of people don't have the ability to make the changes.

One thing not mentioned above is the trans line connection. 97-98 transmissions typically had threaded trans lines and the newer ones had click style. Not a deal breaker, but something to keep in mind. You have click's
