Transmission problem 99 GTP( supercharged)

Hello All, its good to see fellow GP owners uniting for good instead of evil...
Has anyone had any transmission problems for the 99 GTP (supercharged) model ?
I need a rebuild ($1800), but was considering buying a used one and having a buddy install...
What do you GP owners think...what would you do...?

trans problems for these cars happen all the time.

What was the issue with yours????

If you dont wanna spend 1800 on a rebuild, i would just fine a low mileage trans and swap them out.

something you should also know, YOU CANT RUN THE 03 TRANS IN YOUR CAR, it has differnt parts and is controlled differnt by the cars computer.

So find one from a 98-02 car, if you go that route.

I've got a 99 GTP and the trans will sometimes start to slip after an hour of driving . I've had the trans fluid changed and it now only does it sometimes, although its been like this since I bought it . I've put 12K miles on it since I've had the car (190K). I was lucky enough to find a used trans for $120 locally , just in case the trans finally decides to go out.

I have had a similar problem with my 99 GTP it was about 2 weeks after I bought it I was driving along after about 2 hours and it started bucking and shifting hard check engine light came on I pulled over shut the car off then decided I go another 3 hours to drive and started up again and the problem seemed to be gone check engine light still on mind you so I put a scanner on it as soon as I could and found that the torque converter clutch solenoid was sticking the code being P0741 it hasn't done it since then and its been about 5 months but every once and awhile it shifts hard... the trans fluid seems fine it might be a little low but I am going to add an additive sometime and see how that works the only problem is it doesn't do it all the time so its hard for me to diagnose it
