Hello All!
I have an 02 SE. The past couple months it seems my transmission has been shifting between the top two gears while cruising. At 70 the RPM's are a hair over 2k. The RPM's, almost on que, fluctuate up and down between 2k and 2.5k. This was just for the first 10 minutes(ish) of highway driving in the AM. I changed out the exhaust (just for fun) and I really notice the fluctuation now via the sound. The RPM fluctuation and shifting went on almost the entire way home today. The shifting is very smooth.

It acts like I'm climbing a hill and it needs to downshift. I drive on a relatively flat highway. My other vic does not down shift ever on the same road. Any idea's?
 


that 500 rpm difference would be the torque converter. I'd suggest checking the ignition like plugs and wires along with the trans fluid level.

Is there a trans control solenoid or anything (other than the filter) that is excessible whille the trans pan is off that could/should be changed out?
