• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Transfer tune

the knock was 4* at 5600 rpm and 0.92, at 5200 rpm 0.92 it was 2*. The timing was originally 18*. I subtracted the 4* and 2* I re-scanned and it was at another 2* of knock in the same cells. Do I keep subtracting until it is 0? Would I add timing to the cells that do not have knock or should I just leave them alone and be done with the adjustments? I thought .1000+ o2 readings were high but I'm not really sure.

I greatly appreciate all of the help!!

o2 should be reading in the low 900's when wot.

if its moving all over the place like big swings your 02 sensor is bad and that will mess up the fueling and cause kr.

best to have a wb to see your actual afr.

for your set up stock maf file and maybe a little bit added at the top should be all you need.

Thanks, I will look into another o2. The o2 is a denso and is about 6 months old. But that doesn't mean it's good. I will just get it as close as I can and continue in the spring. By then hopefully I will be able to get a wide band.

I'm poor and I have two trips I need to make to go to my son's Army basic training and AIT graduation. So needless to say the car will have to wait.

i hear that, nothing i got came fast. waited for used deals came up, and if i was able to get things i did. sucked to watch stuff sell over and over, but what ya gonna do.

Anything outside of PE the o2 sensor is suppose to bounce all over the place. It suppose to bounce lean and rich of stoich which is 450-500mv.

If the o2 at WOT is bouncing around and not a stead .900+mv, then you have a issue there.

Per the screen shots it seems a little rich but hard to know for sure without a wideband. You could try to remove like 2% worth of fuel above 7,000hz in the MAF curve to see if the mv drop to like the mid .930's or so. Who knows it may be too rich and causing knock.

Yeah it does suck but I will get it eventually. I guess good things come to those who wait, so I've heard. lol

Yeah the o2 is all over the place from around 50-900mv + while driving and idling. To remove 2% I would multiply that section by .98 correct??

Thanks guys!

I was comparing my current tune with the stock and I have a question. I copied over the injector Flow rate, offset vs volts, and offset vs PW vs VAC. I also copied all the Power enrich, Primary VE vs. RPM vs. MAP among others from my 04 comp g overkill tune. I cant help but wonder if that is messing with the tuning process.

did you have larger injectors? if you moved them over to the new car here now then you did the right thing. all that other stuff is the base tune. after all that you get to maf tune and play with timing.

sure is. its the tune really. dont forget the knock sensors, tm as well the speed limiter. thers some changes int he maf file too.

Is there a place I can find histograms that are already made for the current versions of HPT? I’m looking to plat for 02 sensor tuning but can’t figure it out. I looked at the tuning guide but those are for the older version.

There are already built in graphs you can use. It already plots the o2 sensor is many different ways.

You can do rpm vs cylinder airmass or rpm vs map pressure. Even commanded AFR or commanded lambda against both cylinder airmass and or map pressure.

Or just create one that suits your needs, it's not rocket science. Just pick the two pids you wish to log the o2 mv's with.

Thanks 5FDP, I think my problem is trying to follow the guide that is set up for a much older version of HPT. I have o2 mv logging now. I put in a new o2 sensor so I just reverted back to stock Maf setting and starting my LTFT over again. My New denso failed within 6 months, slow response time. Luckily Stealthee was nice enough to include a few Bosch o2 sensors with the car. once I get that back in line I'll mess with the 7000 mhz up adjustments.

How are the knock sensors tuned? I have not seen anything on that. Looking at my HPT file I see places like knock decay but it wont let me adjust those for some reason.

The knock sensor don’t get tuned. They tell you how much knock you have because something else isn’t right. If you have knock after getting your maf/wb tune down then take away timing in the spot you have knock.

I think there’s a spot for how much timing is taken away when knock is present in the tune but I would leave that alone.
