transaxle application help needed here

I need to replace my transaxle and a guy at a salvage yard told me the '03 trans was a 1 yr application? Is he right? Can I use an '02 trans in our '03 Grand Prix GT, and if so, do I need to make any changes? Any how-to links will be appreciated. I can get one for free on Friday, but I don't know if it will work. Thanks!

I've not worked on late models much. Most of my other cars are before computer control. Is the PCM something that can be reprogrammed? Is it the box that's mounted in the air inlet, just ahead of the air filter? I'm getting the transaxle from a wrecked car. I may be able to get the '02 PCM if I know what to look for and where. Thank you for taking the time to help me out. :cool:

I am not sure if you can reprogram the pcm for the 03 trans, I think you need the 03 pcm I am not 100% tho.
