Trans solenoid

Twist

New member
so have the turbo car out in the fall, engine light pops on, scan it says trans solenoid, clear it drove it another week nothing, so was parked for last couple months, brought it out on this nice weekend we had drove a good 80km nothing then bam comes on again
so heres my question how hard is it to replace the solenoid and is it something i should rush to replace

guess which one would help, its the TCC solenoid, the cars showing no symptoms of a bad tcc solenoid tho, it does have a redline built trans in it if that tosses any ideas out there, i dont want to go ahead and replace the solenoid to find out its a simple prob

Redline is a very reputable shop. I'm fairly sure they would have replaced it when it was built. Might be worth stopping by and seeing what their thoughts are on it.

Overall.. it's a pain to get to. Pull subframe and axle, lower trans end of drivetrain until you can sneak the cover off.

i didnt purcahse the trans, came with the car , so im guessin id be SOL with redline, is it something i can put off for couple weeks?

I don't know if this helps but I can tell you what the TCC does the solenoid reads the speed of the transmission and sends the signal to the computer which identifies that the car has reached proper cruising speed and is not under heavy load (full throttle) it then "locks" the torque converter to not allow any slippage like a standard automatic torque converter, basically making the torque converter act like a clutch

cars showing no symptoms of a bad tcc solenoid, is there anything else that could be causing the car to throw this code or is it catching an early sign of a bad tcc?

ok checked the connectors and wiring everythings fine, car started showing some symptoms, chugs a but when going from 4-2 , still doesnt stall out in first gear, think im just going to give in and take it to a transmisson shop, any idea what id be looking at price wise?
