Trans slipping bad

About a week ago I was in some bumper to bumper when my transmission slipped bad. It would rev like crazy, thunk thunk thunk on the passenger side then get into gear. Managed to pull over and let it cool off and it worked fine like nothing happened. Flasf forward to today; did,some running around town for work and on my way back up the hill its reved up to 4k with not alot of power. Go to drive to naoa to get some fluid and its just totally gone. No drive reverse 1 2 or 3. Shut it down sat for a minute managed to limp in reverse to the parking spot where I now sit. After initial reading I,thought it was the forward power band, but it seems like I would still have 1 & 2? Whenwver I manage to find a ride I'm going to drop the oan and.changr the filter, maybe add some.lucas. Any help would be appreciated. Its an 02 35 milea ahort if 100k original trans as far as I know. Grandma had it aeerviced regularly, but she also had something of a lead foot.
 


Drop pan and cut open the trans filter to inspect. Sounds like the pump inside the trans is not getting any fluid i.e. a clogged filter. Which I'm at little shocked at if it was in fact service regularly.
 
Well so far so good, hopefully thats the end of it. The fluid didn't look so bad on the dipstick but it was pretty gross when I drained it
 
Its been working fine since the change. I haven't done any heavy bumper to bumper which seeed to make it act up.
