Trans shifts are off after TPS replaced

I replace the TPS today on my 97 GT, and after that was done i took it for a ride and the shift points were way off. It did not shift into OD at all, shifted out of first at 26MPH also. When I installed the TPS, i did have to move the throttle to get the mounting holes to line up, but it idled fine. I did put the old one back on and still the same Issue...Any ideas?

Yeah, I played with the vacuum lines too. Didn't help at all. I just unplugged the battery to reset the computer...i'll hook it back up in the morning before work to see if it helped at all.

Look at the TPS on a scanner for 0-100% or ...tell us why you replaced it.

Because TPS will directly effect/screw with your shifts.

yeah, you need to make sure it is reading from 0 to 100, like bill mentioned. It if is off, it will screw things up.

it threw a code at autozone so I replaced it. And when You first started it and put it in gear, it would almost die out.

TPS has to be properly adjusted. I had to adjust the TPS on my cousin's Stealth because it was screwing with his shifts and it only needed moved literally less than 1/16th of an inch.

How do you go about adjusting it? I hear on these cars they are not adjustable. Is it done by moving the Idle screw on the TB?

no.

Move the TPS sensor so that the TPS % reads 0-100 and the TPS voltage reads between .40-4.0 at each end of the spectrum.
