I did a full tranny flush and filter change car ran great for 2 weeks checked the fluid daily as of weds it was fine full and clean, Saturday I am stopped at a light go to move and get a slight stutter then it goes fine at lunch seems like it is stuck in first then it shifts fine. Get back from lunch check fluid BONE DRY I run my finger on the stick and not even a film!! I shut the car wait a few minutes and check it again if it is off when I check it it is halfway below the ad one pint if it is running park DRY!! Did I do damage and where did it go there are no puddles or leaks I can find

you didnt need to make 2 threads man.

I would get back under the car and make sure your gasket is not leaking, and check to make sure all the bolts are tightened down.

sorry about the 2 threads not sure how this forum works if I put it in one is it seen in another etc.I just paniced it is my DD and I just started a new job something happens and I can't make it to work I may end up unemployed and t here goes my house. But I did check the gaskets and if I run in and climb around it I still can't see the leak any more thoughts(pS tranny pan is dry on outside sor mothing dripping)?

New development last night I filled the tranny drove it hope at 60 mph no problem. Went to be this morning fluid is low need about 3 quarts go to get something out of the trunk the bumper and tail lights look almost like someone misted it with a spray bottle I run my fingers through it it is an oily substance I would say tranny fluid but hard to tell it is grimy looking nothing in the exhaust pipe its bone dry so it can't be spraying out from the engine

wait a second I am getting this like ticking sound from the lower end of the engine near the axle and I just had the half shafts replaced two weeks before this happened could that be it? and how would I fix it?

If your axle seal was leaking that much. There had to be a puddle and if you looked underneath, you would have seen the oil all the way down the underside of the car.

Not giving you a hard time, however.. if you say you see no leaks and it was leaking this bad. You needed to look a little more. Never be afraid to get on all fours and look around under the car. jack it up and take a closer look.

Nope Bill not taking it as a hard time taking it as yeah I shoulda looked harder long story but a I lost a bit of m confidence awhile back when some convinced me since I was mostly working on cars in the 70's and 80s I couldn't know crap about these FWD computer controlled cars and they are so complicated they need a shop for anything. I am starting to think computers and FWD aside an engine is an engine and a trans is a trans. These people had me so scared to touck my GP that I waited almost a year to do the suspension because; "struts ain't shocks you can get killed well I saved up the money to have them done then saw what I could save how much were parts how much was labor and since I was broke and had bad paying job so I did all control arms struts tie rods and found umm its just like a rwd and I must say It was thanks to alot of the folks on this forum and people loke you and the how toos that I worked up the nerve to do it. BTW I ahve seen a lot of you write ups and posts and I must say I am kinda honored you took time to respond and you were right got it on a lift and there was trail from seal to back bumper up onto spoiler

Thanks

Logan

my grandparents come from that same day and age of "all we know how to fix are the 60s-90s models RWD v8s. but, honestly, i think whoever is telling you all this mess and having you scared to give your own vehicle some TLC is full of bologna and ignorance. as long as you know what's going on, it's not that complicated. it's still an engine and a tranny.

but if i were you, i'd just get under it with it on jack stands and shine a light everywhere and touch any and all surfaces you suspect could be the culprit. and best of luck! :)

Logan.

Our motors are pushrod motors. Meaning..they are the same as the 70-80's era you are used to, except the difference is....

We have sensors to monitor some stuff. We have no distributor to put 180 degrees off. It's pretty straight forward plug and play. If you get the plug wire to the right tower, it's going to work well. Don't let those folks kill your confidence. These motors are nothing but a lot of parts, nuts and bolts all held together by a couple of torque specs and gaskets. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Bill and Brandon thanks for the vote of confidence, let me get an opinion if I may my car has 295,000 miles on it, runs fine but I know the day will come when I will need a new transmission. I plane on never getting rid of this car I have never rebuilt any kind of transmission FWD or RWD in my life, but I was thinking of pulling one from a salvage yard, getting a kit and rebuilding it then hold on to it for when and if this one goes, Biggest job I ever did in my life was a head gasket and cylinder head rebuild on a 1972 Mustang with a 351 Cleveland. Is this something I could do are there enough how to's and whatever out there and are the instruction with these kits complete enough or is this just a something if you don't know what you are doing because you have not done it before it just gets frustrating and I am better off to just not start it? BTW car is my daily drive that's why I'd like to have the trans ready to drop in when needed. Thanks in advance for your time
