I'm looking for some help with these codes. I have 2006 GT with 86000 miles and have been having some issues with what I thought was the engine misfiring. The check engine light came on. A buddy read the code and it was P0716. He reset the light and it stayed out. The misfiring came back and the light stayed on for a few days. Took it to ht edealership and they are telling me its an internal trans issue. Is this accurate? ASny sugeestions on what to do?

Let's define the codes
P0716 Input sensor signal intermittent
P0717 Input sensor no signal
I'd start by checking the wiring from the trans to the pcm. Ensure all pins look good and aren't pushed out etc. There is info on which pins etc in a post by me that you can find by searching "trans info" and my user id.
If that all checks out, then likely it's a bad sensor or internal wiring harness. These can be swapped out fairly easily by lowering the drivetrain and pulling the side cover (which is kinda detailed in a post by me called "replace 4th clutch hub")
