Trans fluid question

I just added trans fluid under 100 miles ago, i did NOT add a new gaskett and now i have a leak coming from the farthest most back position of the trans, i just want to verify i will be able to reuse that oil and filter, thanks.

i also forgot to mention i complelty tore off the head off a bolt while tightening everything down there i didnt turn too hard but it happend, how can this be fixed?

guys i really need help with this trans pan bolt and removing it. I took my drill to it and started to wear on the hole itself i have no clue what imdoing but i do know i need to get that out before i reinstall the pan

can you grip it with anything? It should come out easy as long as you didn't cross thread it.

Next time torque the bolts to 10ft lbs.

When drilling a bolt out, the idea is to make a nice, straight, centered pilot hole with a small bit like 1/8" then step to the larger bit.

I threw it back on without it for now, I didn't have more time to today, I did use a different gasket and pan I'm not sure it fixed the leak though.

Once you break the head off, it sometimes takes the pressure off the threads and it will easily come out if you can somehow spin it. Try getting something narrow and pointy, like an icepick, to back it out. (Might be too late if drilling boogered up the threads.)

Make sure the leak is coming from the pan gasket and not the dipstick tube seal.

Ok I noticed it was still coming out the same this morning, so I'm sure it's not the gasket or the pan I'll double check that location.

Next time, use a punch and tap the bolt out in the reverse direction with a hammer slowly. I do this with many broken bolts so I don't have to drill and use a helicoil. I've already had to do this with a trans pan bolt this year. This is the punch kit I bought and you only need to use one of them.

This will work very easily because there is no pressure on the broken bolt.

Thanks for the link, what do you mean by tapping it in reverse position? Im a noob at this

small chisel deal on the edge of the busted bolt kinda hard to do on a bolt that small. but you tap it out by unscrewing it.

id get a center punch, punch the middle of the bolt, then use a left hand threaded drill bit/ extractor. the punch is so the drill bit dont wander all over, it will stay in the punched dot.

1. Put the punch on top of the broken bolt near the edge
2. Use a hammer and lightly tap the punch in the direction of which the bolt would come out which would be counter clockwise or reverse.
3. Keep tapping the bolt in counter clockwise direction till the bolt fully backs out.

You may be able to grab the bolt with some vise grips when it's halfway out and turn it counter clockwise.

The surface is very uneven kinda pointy the drill bit danced around and started to cut the hole itself so I stopped

Perfect description thank you.

even on a jagged break you use a punch make the dot, then put the drill int he dot and start drilling, after its made a little hole you turn the drill bit straight and drill into the bolt. left handed drill bits spin backwards and spin the bolt out.

cant find reverse drill bits? use a small normal drill bit and an extractor to remove it.

try the punch and tap it out first, its kinda safe.

If you can get a slot somehow put in the broken bolt (small dremmel) then back out with a screwdriver.
