Trans dipstick question

When the tran dip stick is removed about how much fluid is lost? Is it safe to run with that amount out for a short time till I can get more?
 


you prolly lost about 1-2qts. fwiw, i forgot to add some back in and was driving around for 30 minutes, then i remembered.
