That dipstick level will disappear once you try and run through the gears. It should also drop just having the car running so keep an eye on it. The pump turns as long as the engine is running.
And don't freak out when you are cycling through the gears when it doesn't grab right away. It won't upon the first few fills. Just fill it slowly and run the gears, then check level. Add as needed to bring up to full then cycle again. Once it starts grabbing gears then you know you are close to full. Then once its full go take it for a short drive to get the trans up to operating temp and bring it back home and re-check the level. Add as needed and close er up!
