Ok heres the story. Bought my 99 gtp about 2 months ago. On the way home about 20 miles in it started slipping and banging into gear . Pulled over noticed i hit the performance shift button , turned the car off , waited 5 mins and restarted , car went the remainder 30 miles no problem, got it home and checked the fluid, fluid was burnt , changed trans fluid and filter .The car has been fine ever since , driven a bit hard and driven about 3,000 miles . Went on vacation last week , had a 150 mile drive , well hit bumper to bumper traffic , so what was a 3 hr drive turned into 5 hrs , made it to the cottage we rented , when i parked i noticed a noise which wasnt there about 4 miles away from the house. I hit a pothole at the 4 miles away point, not sure if that matters LOL. So anyways i went and investigated , it sounded like a noisey ac clutch engageing when i put it in gear , r d 1 2 3 , but quite in p and n. so went and checked fluid etc , no probs there, waited 3 hrs and went to try it out , yup noise was still there , went to take off and it was almost like binding , but would go. So i let it sit the whole vacation, and decided to try to drive it the 152 miles home last night. Noise still there hard shift and a noticeable jerking on downshift from 2 to 1 when stoping , but it made it the whole way , in 3rd it was driving like a dream, but i also notice no drive , put it in drive hit 55 to 75 and its still in third at about 3200 rpm, let off gas it drops to close to 1000 rpm , hit gas again does nothing till it hits 3000 rpm again. Any ideas what im looking at ?
