well i would say you need a new tranny i got that code po742 and dropped the pan to change the fluid and filter and came to find alotta dirty fluid with alotta metal flakes and sludge in it.i also had a tranny pump whining loudly and it would go a few yards and then stop.shut it down and go a few yards and stop.i ended up replacing the tranny with a 12k new/used one outta the local junkyard, but before the removal in the old one i found more metal under the vehicle speed sensor in the rear of the tranny.so if you are driving it still with that code on i would not trust it too far because usually i have heard that the PO742 DTC is available on these trannys,they do not last long afterwards.goodluck btw man.
