Traction Concepts LSD conversion kit

Solving problems
I recently stumbled upon this...

Anybody ever heard of, or used a Traction Concepts LSD conversion kit? MSRP for a 4t65e diff kit is $399. http://www.tractionconcepts.com/

Price seems steep for what it is. 2 pieces of milled tool steel and 4, maybe 8 springs. Unless there's some thrust washers in there that I'm not seeing. But still... I have to believe a guy with access to a mill could knock something like that out pretty cheap. Order up some 4140 from the local steel supplier, work it up, and get it heat treated. Throw them in a bag/box with some 5/8" red die springs. I'd pay a couple hundred for that. Not $400.

What am I missing?

Stay away from those. It isn't a real LSD (obviously) and it can cause breakage. There was a similar item available in the 3000GT/Stealth market years ago from a guy that went by SpeedFreakSteve. He was a parts seller and started selling these to the people who didn't want to drop $1000+ on a Quaiffe. Just about everyone that ran one ended up destroying their diff. I actually have/had one floating around from a trashed transmission I bought for parts.

You want a LSD? Get a real LSD diff.

So much $$$. :th_depressed:

Better to buy a real LSD, like a Quaiffe that has a lifetime warranty, than to have your diff explode and ruin your trans.

I got lucky when I bought my Quaiffe for my Stealth. I got it for $700 used and it came with 2 transmissions worth of parts.
