TPS Replacement - Shift points?

Yes, another TPS question.

Does anyone know how long the computer usually takes to learn the shift points after a new TPS is installed? Mine is shifting at around 4000 rpm for first.

when i replaced mine... it took only a few minutes. If its taking longer than that, u more than likely have a vacuum leak somewhere.

when i installed my TPS wrong (I turned it on the hammer on the TB) it idled high and shifted hard.

I removed it, and put it back on without twisting it on (ie. pressure on the spring).

^ yeah, that's the "old school" TPS adjustment, lol. These don't need adjusting - although I wouldn't be surprised of some aftermarket ones do. The TPS is adjusted by measuring volts at the sensor - our cars should read ~ .40 IIRC, anything much higher than that will result in a high idle. If it reads .40 and you still have a high idle - then yes, you likely have a vac leak somewhere.
