TPS(?) Beatboxing

I was showing my cousin my new headlights as I was doing my seafoam/oil change. My key was in the ON position to turn on my headlights and he noticed this ticking coming from my TB. I have never noticed this before.

Has this happened to anyone here before?

I did clean out my gunky TB ealier this year but did not take the MAF or TPS(?) off when I cleaned it. I think I read somewhere that one should take eveything off the TB when cleaning it. True?

Was the item you grabbed the one making the noise? If so..that's your IAC valve. I'd say it's time to take it off with the key off and clean it and the hole in which it resides.

IAC Valve for sure. I had this same issue with my Aurora in the past. The valve is located mounted with the throttle body. Remove the IAC Valve and clean with the penetrating oil of your choice, I know for the most part when you remove the valve the pintle (the plunger type rubber piece) should be stuck, and after cleaning should be able to move freely.

EDIT: Also, you should perform the idle relearn procedure after performing this task. Should be good to go after that.

My Aurora was the only year they created a seperate IAC motor for the Aurora 4.0L engines, so I had to take that apart, clean the guts and gears inside, then lube the gears and reinstall.

Yes that thing I was holding was making the noise. I could feel the ticking with mah fingers.

Does this IAC only affect idle or what other things will it affect?

Where can I find out to do the idle relearn procedure? Have you done it before? Eh, I'll just ask my best friend, google.

Thanks for the tips and information.

Mkay, I took off my IAC valve today and broke a bolt in half.. ****.

So I cleaned it a little bit, but seemed puzzled cause nothing is moving at all besides the spring. Is there supposed to be a cover for the spring?

Heres a few pics:

No cover for the spring. Almost kinda seems like something broke inside and is preventing the pintle/plunger thing from moving.....It should move in with the spring.

Ok, well I sprayed the **** out of it and the pin went in about half ways, I guess meaning that it's open? And it won't go in or out anymore. I think ima order a new piece or should I Junkyard it?

I reinstalled the IAC Valve and the ticking or tapping quieted down some but that is it.
