The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.
So I live in Texas and want to visit my Homeland in Ohio this summer and I'd like to take my motorcycle along as well. Anybody have any towing stories with the 3.4 lq1?
Way back when we towed a small (4x6) trailer from Georgia to Ohio in our 1994 GP, that had around 400-500lbs worth of stuff in it. Obviously you want to take it slow and steady and make sure it's in good mechanical condition first, but I see no reason you couldn't tow a bike. That is unless it's a fully dressed tourer, that might be pushing the weight limit in the hills.
Na, just a sportster 1200. And the trailer I'm using is pretty much wheels and a board with a wheel chuck. I'm doing a fluid and filter change here soon on the train so I'm sure it will survive. Thanks for the response!
Maybe since your in Texas instal a tranny cooler it's easy and would protect it even more. I know up here in Pa I don't beat on my trans and it still sees like 195 when it's 30 degrees out lol so I'm doing a cooler in the spring with a fluid change

Beat me to it. Get a tranny cooler. If you can install a temp gauge for the tranny, do that too.
Do some test runs. Getting the right balance of tongue weight can make all the difference in the world. If its wrong, the trailer can start swaying all over the place as you pick up speed and make stopping a disaster.
the key to avoiding trailer sway is to load it so the frame of the trailer is level to the ground, or adjust your hitch to a taller or shorter receiver. if you cant shift the weight around to keep it level.
