Toshiba as a tb unit???

After reading posts from tranny issues i am gonna replace my tps sensor. Every place i call says i can only get it as a tb unit. Is this right?? I hope not because it is pricey.... thanks for the info as always:)
 


hit a junk yard. clean your maf too. that can cause trans shifting issues.

what the issue with the tranny before you go dumping money into it?
 
You can probably test the tps with a multimeter like those with the older style. I'd consider that or post up for one in the wanted section. Lots of guys buy L26's and don't need the TB.
 
When i take off from most stops it revs up then bangs into gear. If i take off slow its ok. I can feel it miss throughout tho. Not bad but its present enuff to notice. I replaced the icm about two years ago but it wasn't an ac delco. And the symptoms then started as a miss but then the tranny was fine. Im nervous that its a tranny replacement. .
 


A two year old ICM could be suspect. So are the coils. I replaced a perfectly good 186K mile trans with a fresh rebuild only to find out that I still had the issue.

The bang into gear thing..that's a little different though. Have you pulled codes when it bangs into gear ?
 
Should icms be replaced as general maintenance, bill? I did coil packs and noticed immediate improvement. Not really having issues but I've contemplated just putting a new ICM just because. 133k on original.
 
I never have..

Coils.. ehhh if they go bad or are throwing a weak spark, sure. But overall our ignition systems aren't overly prone to issues.

You could have just had a crappy connection.

Probably a bit of both. The old packs dropped right in the terminals with no force. The new ones I had to force on. Actually made such a difference I got immediate arcing through my plug wires, could hear it sizzling when I drove it lol. New plug wires after that and the car felt like I just hit the nos button compared to how it was driving.

I just got back from work. It did bang into gear again so i checked the fluid again. Seemed a lil above so i tapped 3 straws together and took out about a cup. Seemed to be better. My temp never went above 186f. This has me stressed right out. I dont hv any ses light. Could it still show a code? Id love to replace the icm again w an ac delco but there expensive. I should add that twice a year and take apart my tb and clean it good. So coils icm tps could be the culprit. Thanks guys
 
Trans codes dont set a light and they reset with ignition cycling. So.. to check them you want to check codes w/o turning off the ignition.
 


cheap scanner works, same with a parts store free scanner. t app also works.

do not turn the car off tho, scan it running after it acts up, or the trans code will clear on you.
 
Thanks again. Not sure if this helps but my abs tc light is on and message board also service traction control like i didn't enuff to deal with lol. It only does it when its hot i took out this morning early and not a problem cuz it was cool out.
 
fyi. if that icm is not an oem icm its likely the missfire issues. ive come across two "aftermarket" icm's that didnt function as a junkyard icm did.

the aftermarket ones will often have a green grommet in the harness plug socket, and the base plate will likely be stainless instead of aluminum.

nearly the first year of the TR's ignition issues finally went away after i swapped on a 180k junkyard stocker in place of the "new" icm.

the trans slam bang is likely the short seal issue and the trans may be coming up on rebuild time
