Torque app not working?

Anybody else having trouble?
torque pro ver. 1.8.49 I would say it quit working in December about the same time it was updated.

Had a Samsung s3 and a blue obd2 bt unit every thing worked fine.
got a note 4 app no longer worked. it pairs fine and torque says it will not connect to ecm.
I thought maybe my bt unit quit so i got a few more.
1 of them is the same blue unit and the other is black and has a power switch.
Niether of them work with any of my GTPs i have 2 97s and 2 2001s.
They pair fine and torque says it will not connect to ecm.
it will however work with a ford escape and a jeep liberty.

this has happened to me quite a bit I usually just take the obd2 adapter out turn the car on an turn it back off an put the adapter back in an turn off the app completely then turn it back on an start it back up an see if that helps that's what I have todo to get mine to work when it becomes stubborn an don't wanna work

I got my new phone the day after the update. So the updated version was the first one installed on my new phone.
So today I tried two other phones (a motorola and an LG) and a different app with no luck. these new bt adapters i got just will not connect to the ecu and are just junk.
my old one that did work does not work now. probably because i left it in all the time, it will not even pair up anymore.
im just going to order a few new ones.

FWIW ... there's no replacement for a good tool. Cheap may get it done at times, but when I spent the money on a real program and hardware it's always been a reliable tool.

This is why I don't use the cheap POS adapters. Goto scantool.net, they stock quality adapters that have worked for me every time. They have great customer service if something goes wrong too.

I had a elm327 that would connect to my phone but not the ecu. Tried multiple cars with no success so I ordered a BAFX version and it has worked flawlessly.

Update...got a new unit. does not work.
the boards inside look different from the last two. still in a blue shell.
Torque works with a honda a ford and a jeep. will not connect to ecu on a 97 pontiac 01 pontiac 03 buick 05 chevy 02 chevy.

from L to R the black and white one with on off sw does not connect to anything will not even pair.
The first blue one is my old one that used to work and I had a lot of fun with.
The next blue unit with the darker label is the newest one and still will not connect to ecu.
The next two with made in china stickers and purple labels do not connect to ecu.
All but my first one and the black and white one will pair and read a few other cars i have tried.
I have tried 3 different phones my tablet and i even found a early version of torque and installed it with out having any luck.
un-installed re-installed pulled battery cable on my car. i cussed at the app and adapters and that didn't work. even threw one at a co-worker to no avail.
I also have a regular corded code scanner that will plug in and connect, read, and clear codes on all my pontiacs.
I don't get it.

Have you tried a different app? If a different app works then contact Ian Haskins, the Torque Pro developer. He's very helpful.

It's too bad one of them wasn't bought from scantool.net, they have great customer service as well. Between them and Ian, it'd work.

Isn't there a setting that needs to be set for certain adapters to function correctly? Maybe your old one didn't need this setting and simply died, and your new one does.

You could try turning off the faster communications option, and try all the different baud rates, if there is that option. I've been running USB for some long I don't remember what all there is for BT. Just like Aeroforce has issues, Torque has issues and the chinese adpaters have issues. Try another program (Touch Scan, Dash Command, etc.) and if they work fine, then contact Ian. If they don't then it's a hardware problem.

My 1st elm 327 has worked in my GTP, GTO and Z71.

First and last time it acted up on me. Dan Smuts told me to uninstall, then re install the app, worked flawless ever since.

Current phone is a LG Optimus G Pro (note wannabe)

I had the exact same issue with my elm. I ordered a bafx and it worked immediately. The elms are hit and miss to what chips are installed and that will depend on what vehicle it works with. Theres also a hack online dealing with some resistor on the board that needs messing with but my elm didnt even have it.

Exact link to the one I ordered last week

That thing looks extra long. can you drive with it in there?

That looks to be as long as my old BT adpater was, it fit fine. You can always get an extension cord if you wanted
