Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Topswap vs. L32 swap

as of right now i have a top swapped car with headers VS cam and smaller pulley....if you do top swap spend the money and get 42lb injectors...it'll make things alot easier for tuning purposes and also make sure you get ur heads magnafluxed for safety purposes or that would be a great time to port them!!! BUT...if i could go back i wouldn't have top swapped...i would've just went with the turbo route!! Just my opinion though! Good luck with whatever you decide

I know what is needed for the swap. If you go back to my original post I stated "I know I’ve missed a few small parts that will be needed but I’m not making a shopping list." It's just to compare options, and get people's idea of what they would choose so I don't look back and wish I did something else....

Sorry, i just assumed since you said it would only cost $300 for all the gaskets and hardware, you should be better informed to help you make your decision.

Yeah I know, I appreciate the help it probably would be slightly more, and I'm sure somebody would have threadjacked asking for a full list of what's needed anyways...I have some of the random stuff lying around, but I was just throwing together an estimate :th_peaceout:

Alright NP. I just wish i knew before hand because i would have looked for an L67/32 instead. It probably would have been cheaper for me.

I bought an L32 for my swap and sold the block. I guess its personal preferance as to which route you go. I figured since an engine that has been sitting for who knows how long would need gaskets anyway, I might as well just go in favor of low compression.

I feel like that is the route I will end up going, it seems as if there is less headaches that way....To me, I don't think the small difference in power is worth the possible problems that I could have. I don't need it to be a track car I'm just out for more fun. I also think I would be saving money that way (definitely would if I went L67 route) or I'd probably be even with an L32 swap. I swear I remember a post about somebody picking up an L32 for like $600, I wish that was the case around here, but they are all $800-$1200...

If you are topswapping, how do you favor low compression? unless i misunderstood your post.

I don't understand either...I think he might mean that he took the GenV off of the L32, sold the block, and used the GenV on whatever motor he had (NA I am guessing??) and he is in favor of low compression because it hasn't gone well...don't know, thats what I got out of it

but favoring low compression means that is what you would choose, but you kept the high compression motor.

I had a thread on here when I first joined about top swapping mine but decided to go with a full L67 engine swap, I am getting ready to send my pcm off and drop my motor in in a couple weeks. I had the money (over time) to buy my tog headers, wires, 3.4 MPS, Ported blower w new bearings & belt, gaskets, arp studs, motor mounts, rocker arm bolts, o2 sensor extender, slp ram air box and sd hood for just under 1700.

run the proper plug and proper pulley size and you wont have a problem on Higher compression builds. Heck I once made an entire 1/4 mile pass with a 14.9 AFR 9 psi and 13 degrees knock and mines still alive.

tuning is pretty much the same. Ive noticed the higher compressions Are alittle less tolerant if your tunes off.

l36/26 still can take a lot of abuse. my 150k motor has survived 15* of knock, wot in 3rd gear on the dyno lol
