• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Top swapping

Your 97 GT has a vacuum assisted transmission (4T60e) which I am pretty positive you can't top swap. Would be a kinda of a weak spot anyway on that car.

Would be easier in the long run to start off with a GTP instead of trying to make a top swapped GT car run great all the time.

no, no, no, no.

The 60e works fine at stock power levels... The hbodies in 96 had 60e's and worked fine in a heavier car even.

There is no complication to doing a top swap on a 97 either.

IMO you should go check out that red GTP too. Lower mileage doesn't always mean better condition. I've seen 200,000 mile GTP's that were cleaner and had less rust than 80,000 mile ones. The only thing you really need to worry about in a higher mileage car is worn out engine parts. But parts are cheap for GP's. I'd rather have to replace some engine parts on a high mileage but clean body car, than have a solid low mile motor in a rusted out POS. At least from the pictures I can see, the red GTP looks very well taken care of for 150,000 miles.
