Top Swapping I have questions.

GAFF

PittState Automotive Tech
In the near future i plan to top swap. I don't have many questions since Kfish has been answering damn near everything I can think of to ask.

This is what I have:
Heads
Supercharger
Throttle Body
Valve Covers
Idler Pulley
Harmonic Balancer Pulley
Fuel Rail w/ injectors
Coil Bracket
LIM

This is what I need and here are my questions:

Pulley belt - I prefer a 3.8 to start but do you guys think with everything I'm going to put on a can go smaller and if so how low?

Headers - I'm probably going with speed daddy headers, I already know i need the different clamp. My questions are do those come with gaskets? If not where do I get the gaskets for them for the best price?

Gaskets and Head Bolts - Is there a place where I can get all the gaskets in one set or do I have to buy them all separate and whats the best place to order them or pick them up? I was told that head gaskets come with head blots is this true?

Tune - I think i'm set with this no questions here.

Gauges - I'm going with a Aeroforce, oil pressure, and boost. Anyone think I should get a different combo? opinions are welcome.

If im missing something please tell me. Anyone and everyone step in and help me out please

head gaskets do not come with the head bolts. head bolts come seperate.

i would run a 3.8 on that set up, and run some decent timing. i dropped to a 3.5 right away on my car with only headers and was never able to get it 100% knock free.

as far as gaskets for the headers go...they do come with them. but they are so cheap they fall apart just touching them. i would run the metal exhaust gaskets that your car has on it now. you should be able to re use them.

if i were you id start with the 3.8 just to get the car running well first, then start the pulley game.

either get GM or felpro gaskets. even if they come with gaskets they are junk.

get felpro or GM gaskets again and invest in some head studs. youll thank me later

wideband? the only way to know how your car is ACTUALLY running as far as fueling goes.

see above. done.

2 head gaskets
Intake gasket set
Plenum gasket set (if you ask for a supercharger gasket they look at you funny)
TB gasket
Fuel injector o rings (you need 2 boxes)
Head bolts
Coolant elbows (tell them your working on a GM 3.8. they'll know exactly what you mean)

think thats it.

my man coming through again lol. Thats why i mentioned you in the first line of this thread

i think u also need a gtp map sensor and if u put rockers on 3.5 should be ok

Not if you don't have headers and a custom tune. I really hope your not gonna be one of those guys that think you can just drop pulleys like you can on a L67 car...because you sure as hell can't on a high compression motor.

Im not even dropping the pulley after i top swap for a while. I just want to enjoy my newly top swapped engine for a while

i hit 13* of knock on a 3.6 and 14* of wot timing

my setup- headers/1.9/N*

stick with the stock pulley and start with stock gtp bin and go from there. Definitly get a wideband and a tuner or you will be wasting alot of your time trying to tune your car n/b and still not get anywhere. I recommend a dhp

Im going to have brian tune my **** and I'm pretty sure he knows what he is doing. Going to go get gaskets and a Wideband today then order my headers and aeroforce.
