Top Swap.

Budget wise, will it be cheaper to do a top swap and buy the kit or find a l67 out of a junkyard and swap it in?

Depends on how far you plan on pushing it and how mechanically inclined you are to do the work yourself.

I say top swap.

You can get junk engines and heads are cheaper to be cleaned up and decked.

You'll need supporting mods too. O collected and researched for a year before I did mine.

Mechanically, I think the L67 swap is a better bet than to top swap.

and can't see how cost is cheaper... Only benefit to top swap is because higher compression will afford a 5% bump on HP over L67 with same level mod's. But you gotta add in a tranny too as the non-HD will be suspect after the swap. So if you're looking for that extra .5 sec shaved time in the 1/4 go for it.

All just my opinion! But do as mentioned, research it and ask all who've done it both and see what they say, then make your own decision and go for it!

:)

my top swap costs
$300 for top swap(I got as gift but topswaps are roughly $300)
$300 for headers
$100.00 for incar retune(will be more expensive for you)
$43.99 for oil(royal purple synthetic, you dont need to pay that much)
$30.00 for coolant
$50.00 for a top end gasket kit(I got it form my buddy he gets things cheaper so may cost you more)
and I still need a few lil things here and their.
l67 might be cheaper idk.
People say " my topswap only cost me $350" is BS they are not including everything you need to complete the setup.
Would I do topswap again? yes I like the fact I have a lil edge over gtps/l67's but you have to do it right or your engine could go BOOM lol.

What do you mean do it right.? If I do a top swap and add all the parts and retune like you mentioned where could I go wrong? And can a get a pre-tune from zzp or tep for the top swap?

Why do you think the l67 is better than a top swap? I thought the block was the same just different heads..

top swap means you have higher compression so " doing it right" is not getting a mail tune you would get a incar/dyno tune. otherwise just quadruple check everything lol, im no expert though.
