Top Swap - What Tuner??

OK, well Im pretty decent mechanically, and I understand fuel/air requirements of a boosted engine.
But this will be my first attempt with a GM product, I have always been a ford guy...

I dont know what my options are for fuel control for my 97 GP GT

Im looking at doing a top swap, from a L67 car with a Gen3 SC..
Im not looking to make a lot of boost, or huge power numbers.

My only other power plans include headers/exhaust, intake & maybe a cam.

Any and all advise is appreciated...

Pay someone to do it for you or buy the tools to do it yourself.

Requires a wide band O2 sensor before your cat and HP tuners or DHP.

HPT being the more reliable of the two, DHP being the one that lets you do more if you use tiny tuner in combination with it.

HPT is still supported by its manufacturer, DHP is not.

When you say HPT, you mean the one over at ZZPerformance?
They call it a HPTuner, Im assuming you just shortened it?

Does this mean the ECM in my car has maps that can be edited & re-flashed?

Will the 'HPT' read the wide band and adjust the fuel on the fly?

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes and no.

If you get pro you can plug the WB right into the HPT interface.

If you dont, you can plug the WB output into your EGR and monitor it from there.

It wont adjust on the fly.

You have to monitor what its doing, then flash the changed PCM file into the PCM. (our ECM and TCM are one module, PCM) Then monitor it again to see if your changes had the desired effects.

HPTuners can be purchased about anywhere and give you the ability to edit the maps and reflash depending on the package you buy. HPT will read the wideband but will not adjust the fuel on the fly, that's where you take those readings and do a few adjustments yourself to get it closer to your afr.

HPT/Hptuners same thing.

DHP powrtuner is another that will work, but no longer sold new.

matt beat me.
