Hi all, im new here. My name is Corey, I bought a 2000 gp gt. And as my first pontiac car, i love it. So onto my question, My gp has a bad trans. as it doesnt have overdrive. So I bought a 2001 buick regal gs for cheap that has a nasty rod knock. It has the 4t65hd trans that i will be using in the gp. My question is, if i top swap the gp with parts from the buick, will i be able to use the ecm from the buick and not require any tuning?
 


It'll still need to be tuned, because the L36 is a higher compression ratio motor than the L67. You'd have alot better chance at internal engine damage without a tune or buy a 4.0 pulley to reduce the amount of boost made, even then it might not be "safe".
 
Im pretty sure there is more to it than that. I have a top swap bin file i could send you if you have a way to load it into the PCM.
