Top Swap Problem

3.2 with no headers...most people say you need headers just to run a stock pulley on a top swap. at least a downpipe w/ the u-bend delete. j/w but what did you do with the MAP sensor?

I did the top swap myself, every sensor is hooked up, everything thats suppose to be. no check engine light, nothin. and the reason I haven't experienced any KR is because the car hasn't allowed itself to run on any real amount of boost, yet. as of right now I drive the car back and forth to college and it runs great, just putting around though. I just ordered a 3.4 pulley, slp longtubes, and I'm looking into an intercooler to pick up in the near future.

WOw you dont even have headers and you were on a 3.2....Good thing you came to your sense's. Your not going to be able to run under a 3.8 without headers.

Anything high compression NEEDS headers...it isn't a want. Plus, the point of having high compression is not utilizing all the boost a low comp motor needs to go just as fast. BUT...it is way more prone to knock...so keep that in mind

Meh, it all depends on how you're flowing, and how much of a safety net you want.

Top swaped cars require more fuel per pulley. You need injectors on 3.5 or lower. 3.25 isnt possible. There is no safty net on l67 injectors on a 3.25

3.5 seems a tad extreme, but it doesnt bother me. Already have 42.5's... figured I'd just buy injectors once.

Goes back to the .3 pulley differance. Ask any top swapper what there IDC is on a 3.5. Its in the 90's. On a 3.4 im at 98-101 percent

yeah correction, not long tubes my buddy order slp long tubes for his camaro from a local shop when I ordered mine, but yeah I'm waitin on some slp's and a 3.4 pulley. I would have gotten all of this at the same time of the swap but its all about money, I'm in college so I have to make sure I have enough money to live. but yeah 3.4 and headers on the way, stock injectors for the time being

No he wont. I run over 100 percent injector duty cycle on l67's on a lean intercooled setup......BUT WHAT DO I KNOW. Ive only been running a 3.4 topswapped for 1 year and been topswapped for 4 years. Further more a 3.4 you should also have a Pump rewire. http://www.streetfire.net/video/2001-grand-prix-gt-dynp_208097.htm

I back up everything I say with fact's http://www.scandepot.net/viewscan.php?pk=5267 Heres my scan, please note Injector duty Cycle. Anything over 85 percent you should really upgrade. FWIW. 100 percent the injector doesnt pulse and fuel gets superheated

Quoted for truth. :th_thumbsup-wink:

3.2 is way too small, with headers, 3" catback, full intake and tune, I would still get some KR on a 3.8, one of the big problems is the GT Fuel Pump, I didn't think It was an issue until another local had a ton of KR problems until he found out his GTP had a GT pump... once a GTP pump was put in, most the KR disappeared.........

Throw a 3.5 or 3.6 on there, and see if it runs better, also Scan, Scan, Scan that, we had a local with a ZZP dyno tune that the fuel cut off was set below the shift point, everytime he would hit 5500rpm, 7* KR and Lean spike

The first problem is being able to run a 3.4 pulley on a top swap in the first place.

That requires SOMETHING above and beyond headers...

The GT pump is a one speed pump with SIGHTLY less output. I installed a gtp pump in mine with a rewire. I had pump drop off on a 3.5 pulley on a stock GT pump with no rewire

02GT what fuel pump are you running. Im getting 65's and going e85 3.25 pulley on mine.
