Top end swap???



Harness not necessary as you can get adapters to add the L67 MAP and the BBV to your existing PCM wiring. Still need a PCM programmed for the L67, though.
 
Can I just get an L67 pcm and have it vin matched or do I have mine programmed for the conversion, and who do you guys use? I've had a lot of programming and harness work done but it was always for an EFI swap into an older car, not a boost ap like this.
 
ive heard of just swapping the L67 maf tables and timing tables into your L36 bin file, also the map sensor settings as well. best bet would be to get a hold of ZZP and tell them you want a ____year L36 pcm with a L67 top swap file
 


The 98-02 L36 GP's are easiest for this swap, since there's less security/etc. BS than the Buick's/Chevy's, but those are also fairly straight forward.

An N/A harness & pcm can be re-used, with slight modification. The harness just needs the MAP sensor (BBV solenoid is unnecessary babysitting, most heavy modders pull this and turn off the DTC anyway). For the pcm, best option is to upload the L67 version of the same year car (i.e.: '98 GTP file for a top-swapped '98 GT). Since tuning will be necessary for proper running afterwards, this doesn't add much time to the work.

The 2-bar conversion to a GT/L36 file isn't reliable, since the N/A pcm file still trys using the maximum MAP reading as its barometer... resulting in cruise fueling issues after going into boost. This is why you either tune an L36 pcm to still run a 1-bar MAP, or convert to an L67 pcm to run the 2-bar (only real difference is that you get to see boost values in the scans).

We've never had any problems out of Chevy's. Just get a PCM with your VIN that matches the SERV number. Done.

I agree. I don't see why you'd want to keep the L36 programming. Just flash to a full L67 bin (actual PCM hardware is the same for the same model years between L36 and L67). You're going to have to tune it anyway.
 
Yeah, not saying I've had issues with the 2 Impala's, or the Monte I've done... just had to make sure I changed the security settings. Also was able to use the 04 SS file on a couple 00-02 Chevy's successfully, but I haven't checked back into how it's able to successfully control a pre-03 tranny.
