Tips on removing excess RTV?

Another dumb question. I just reinstalled my IC and SC back on my car. Of course (like most everyone does) I used RTV on all 4 sides of the sealing areas (both sides of the S/C gaskets). Anyway, I torqued everything to spec and of course a little bit of excess RTV is here and there. I wiped what I could but its starting to dry. I figured i'd leave it alone and let everything setup good. Any good tips on removing excess RTV? I donno if carb cleaner or brake cleaner will hurt anything, I obviously don't want to effect any sealing there, know what I mean? I figure i'lll leave it alone for another day.

I know, I'm being a little picky, I always try to make my engine bays very presentable. A little RTV here and there doesn't look good to me IMO. LOL.

I wish, the areas are kinda hard to get to. Barely enough room to get a rag and a finger in there muchless a hand. Thanks anyway and good idea. I should of said the areas were super tight though. Oh well, i'm tired and I ain't dicking with it anymore tonight!

well they do make scrappers with long skinny handles my buddy use to have one it think he got it from Autozone, Advanced Auto , or O'Riely's

If its dry...nothing left to do but to cut or scrape it off the best you can.

Before it sets up, its important to wipe off any that oozes out that you care if its seen by others quickly. I do this when I seal the snout onto my M90's. As soon as its on, and the bolts torqued, paper towels are ready to wipe up any that oozed out.

I use a razor blade and just run it alone the seam. this works well when the RTV is all dry.

Thanks guys, i'll see what I can do. Since its dry, I wonder if an old toothbrush would work too. Hummm...

An old tooth brush did the trick for me....
