Tips for proper launches

As the title says, looking for your input on launching. I have a really good feel for my car and I know how far to push the pedal before I start spinning, but I cannot go WOT until about 35-40 mph. Is this the proper technique? To stay just below the threshold of tire spin until you're beyond the point of them spinning and then go WOT?

If you're on cheap tires, you're gonna spin hard, I would suggest drag radials if you can afford to replace tires a little less frequently. For street launches, it is more of finding that sweet spot between spinning and keeping traction. Every car is different, so find a secluded area and just practice launching and eventually it'll become habbit.

Aight...thats what Ive been doin, just makin sure that was the correct way. As for street radials, Ive went through all the expensive performance tires. They all spin the same. Right now Im on Kumho ecsta spt's 245/50/16, they were surprisingly cheap (about 150 each 4 yrs ago) and they felt like they had the best grip so far, suck ballz in the rain though. And tread wears quickly.

I think you're doing it right, get the tires to chirp a little but never let them break completely loose. Try to hold that amount of torque until you can stomp it. If traction control kicks in then you pushed too far.

GTPs are very picky about tires, you gotta run something sticky but that also means they will wear faster. Currently I'm running the Kumho Ecsta ASX, and it seems to do just as good as all the high dollar tires I have tried. The only all season tire that I thought had significantly more grip was the Conti Extreme Contact DWS, but the steering response sucked nutz. I can almost buy two sets of Kumhos for what Mich. Pilots cost, so who cares if they wear out faster.

Yeah, Im happy with the Kumhos...had the ast's, asx's. I tried goodyears, michelin, Perrellis, and Yokohamas....my threshold is higher before breakin them loose with these Kumhos.
