Tips for a beginner?

I just recently bought a 99 GP GTP for $500 (repo), and wanna turn this car into a machine to be envied! I already spent a couple hundred nursing it back to health, and now I'm ready for some mods, but I don't know where to start.. I've only done very basic engine-work before, so I don't wanna get too technical for the time being. Any ideas about how i should start out? I was thinking maybe a smaller pulley + headers?
 


Start reading on here first! Headers good idea, jumping into a smaller pully. not a good idea, until you do some "prep" work. Easy things to improve first, u-bend delete, but if you are getting headers right away, you wont need to worry about that. SO, if the headers are a ""down the road, when I have more money" or whatever idea, start with a u-bend delete, a fenderwell intake is a good idea as well, and a PCM is a simple upgrade, that makes a huge difference, BUT if you are planning on doing allot of modding, you need to find sombody that can program it for you, unless you can do all your mods at one time.

Headers are getting done as soon as i get taxes back, just trying to decide what kind to get without draining my bank account.. I was looking at a group buy post about Speed Daddy headers. The group buy is already over but even regular price is pretty cheap. I'm still new to all this, i haven't had a car worth fixing up until now, but my roommate is an auto tech so he could take care of the programming of the PCM
 
no your roomate cant program a pcm, unless he has DHP or HPTuners.

and the speed daddy headers are great budget headers. they do their job well.
 
after reading that entire thread on speed dady headers, I would wait a few days and see how they fit when everybody gets them installed. That is what I am doing, If they fit decent, they are a good deal. I will see, and when ppl get them installed, if they are ok, maby we can start another group buy on them.?? IF they fit ok.... lol
 


Ok then maybe not haha.. Like I said, I'm still pretty new to all this.. I've been surfing this site here and there for the past few days now, just getting some ideas and waiting for tax returns and a chance to get back to my heated garage (ND winters suck) Where can i find Speed Daddy headers? checked ebay and google but nothing for sale came up

yeah i was planning on waiting to see how that went too.. If it goes well and another group buy does come up i'll definitely be in on it!

EBAY speed daddy is the seller.
 
i'm on the ebay store right now, and they have no headers.. unless i'm completely missing them?? I read about waiting period for the price change in the group buy forum, but wouldn't they still at least have them listed?
 
They are doing a group buy because the thread tha I posted about them on like 3 different forums sold them out. So go join the group buy and get the headers...
